The path

How many rainy days are ahead of us
Until the Sun light up the way

How many teacups are needed to be drunk
For the calm to take its place

How much tired does the hunter need to get
Until he becomes the new prey

How much medicine is needed
So the pain can go away

How many songs do I have to write
To convince you to stay?

How much practice will the dancer go through
Until she is ready for the ballet

How many rehearsals have to be arranged
Before the band is all set to play

How much harder will the new hire have to work
Until she is worth a big pay day

How many cheap rhymes are necessary
Until the poem becomes a cliché

How many offers do I have to make
So you can you meet me halfway?

I’d go through all of those for as long as it was needed
If you told me that this was the path that would lead you to my doorway

And if not even all of that was enough
I’d move on and get out of your way

With the only one condition I’d ever ask
Would be for you to promise you’ll be…

                                                              …Ok
